Summary

A few years back, I created a sculpture out of the Byzantine Web Square Cube weave that formed it into a sphere. When I was thinking of how to make the sphere that is found atop a chess pawn, I thought this would work alright. I made one using relatively close to the same AR's as the one I originally made (albiet, in a smaller wire size). I had to experiment a little, and add the large .062", 1/2 rings around some of the connection points to tighten it up a bit. Afterwards, I modified the sphere a little bit by taking out a few of the Byzantine sections at the top. Using the Japanese 8 in 2 Cube weave for the base of this piece, then adding several connecting rings to connect it to the part coming off the sphere caused it to warp, so I had to take out a row in the middle on the bottom of the base so that the piece would sit flat.
