At the start of the design phase, I was making different weaves at relatively tight AR's to see what would work well in different places. When I started the Dragonscale, I thought it would be the bottom of the rook. But the shape it took reminded me a bit of the top of a queen. It actually resembles a flower a lot. I really like the ridge, which is simply a captive Full Persian chain held in place by the just right size rings. To get the right AR for the FP, I had to alternate between .032" 9/64" and 19/128". Connecting the ends of that Full Persian chain was one of the most challenging things I've ever done in chainmail!! It was hard enough on its own, but I also had to do it while the chain was wrapped around the piece, and going through a few of the large rings holding it in place. I do not look forward to having to repeat this process, and thankfully I only have to do it once more.
